A large majority of real estate agents at Redfin do not have a technical background, which left them reserved and timid toward technology. Since Redfin is a technology real estate company, agents needed to increase their skills with different software applications. Agents needed to be trained on the primary tools that they would use in their roles—Google Suite.

The Information and Technology department requested that I design a course that could be a resource for field agents to develop their skills in the different Google applications they used. Requirements for the model needed to be optional and flexible enough to not bog down agents in hours of training exercises.

I developed a course that included Google Workspace tutorial videos to allow users to learn at a micro-level. I included many reading resources for agents to learn at their own pace, providing them with a platform to reference back to as they saw fit. I sourced the videos and reading materials, designed the course layout, and wrote the module copy.

The course delivered fantastic results. Agents shared the materials were thorough and assisted them in learning the different Google applications. After a 90-day period, agents improved their technical skills as the IT department reported fewer support tickets on how to use several Google applications. Employees reported an increase in productivity because of the new content—they reported they referenced the materials regularly.
