A large percentage of Redfin’s real estate agents did not have a foundational knowledge of the different technologies used within the organization. Many real estate agents were invited to take part in corporate initiatives and needed ways to communicate with their peers outside of email. Corporate employees used Slack as a communication mechanism as their primary connection point within the company. Agents that were asked to take part in initiatives were not responding to requests efficiently, which was causing significant delays in projects.
The Information and Technology team wanted learners to know everything there is to know about Slack and its functionality. To create a more comprehensive learning experience, I redesigned an existing Slack course for real state agents to learn at their own pace while still providing them as much knowledge about the platform as possible.
My approach to this project was leveraging Slack’s Help Center so that learners could learn which parts of the platform that they desired to know. I designed the online module as the shell, to help guide the learner through the different topics of Slack. Since IT wanted the topics covered throughout the course, the topics were gated and taught linearly.
