New Hire Orientation Workshop
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Google Slides, Mentimeter, YouTube
The Home Services organization did not have a formal onboarding program for their new employees. New hires joined the company with minimal knowledge of how Redfin functioned, and how the Home Services organization fit in. This lack of formal training caused extreme confusion to where new employees shared Home Services was a separate company. New hires lacked team morale and a sense of inclusion to Redfin.
My responsibilities were to design a new welcome course, briefly explaining the company, and how Home Services, or the larger Investments & Renovations Division of Redfin, fit into the business. The new hires were to leave the course with the ability to describe to one of their colleagues the unique aspects of the division and how all the pieces fit together.
I designed a virtual instructor-led training that included interactive and gamified learning solutions to foster learning. The tools I used to create the presentation slides included Google Slides, Adobe Illustrator, and YouTube videos. I handled all the slide layouts, graphics, games, and multimedia used in the presentation.
Following the new onboarding program, employees reported they had a better understanding of Redfin and how the Investments & Renovations Division fit into the organization. Based on employee engagement surveys, there was a significant reduction in employee confusion after taking the class.
