Vendor acquisition within the Redfin Home Services organization was a key factor in the growth of the home renovation program. To keep the program running, it was important for Home Services Market Managers to successfully onboard new vendors (i.e., painters, plumbers, etc.) and have them become partners in the Redfin Home Services network. Market Managers were not adhering to certain protocols and standards when meeting with vendors, to potentially onboard, causing missed opportunities and lost revenue.
The Home Services program management team requested I design a virtual instructor-led training workshop to inform Market Managers on the importance of vendor management within their markets. The project was to instruct Market Managers on how to communicate with these vendors to potentially onboard them as partners.
I designed an interactive gamified scenario-based virtual instructor-led workshop to guide learners in better understanding the importance of onboarding new vendors. The workshop I developed included the requirements and standard operating procedures (SOPs) on how to communicate with these potential vendors. To increase learner engagement, my design included the Kahoot platform.
The learners passed their online assessment with a 98% first attempt passing rate. Vendor management sessions increased by 15% month-over-month post-training event. Focus group feedback provided that learners were more engaged in conducting vendor sessions and Market Managers reported that their confidence increased because of the learning experience.
